Wheelchair Basketball: France vs Argentina at CREPS
From June 1 to 4, the CREPS Bordeaux and the Center Fédéral Handisport were honored to welcome the French and Argentinean wheelchair basketball teams!
Organized jointly by the Fédération Française Handisport, the Commission Fédérale de Basket-Fauteuil, the Pôle National de Basket-Fauteuil and the CREPS de Bordeaux, this training camp enabled the two national teams to work on different attack and defense systems, just before the world championships to be held from June 9 to 20 in Dubai. The French team secured its place at the 2021 world championships by finishing fifth at the European championships in Madrid.
“We saw a French team ready to play together and ready to earn its place at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games . The teams played four matches against each other. There were a lot of changes during the matches, and we can see that the coach and his staff are looking to put in place the best possible combinations in attack and defense. They worked on different systems, so let’s hope it works for the world championships!” comments Corentin Guizelin, in charge of wheelchair basketball at the French Handisport Federation.

The CREPS Bordeaux is delighted to have welcomed these two teams to its new Marie-Amélie Le Fur gymnasium, perfectly equipped to host teams of this level. Two former members of the Centre Fédéral Handisport, Louis Hardouin and Mamady Traoré, were playing for France.
Open to the public, the matches provided an unforgettable experience for young players from the Centre Fédéral Handisport. seeing the French team prepare and play in their training center, and seeing the steps required to reach such a high level. “It’s a great opportunity to welcome the French and Argentinean teams, and to promote handisport, particularly wheelchair basketball. In addition to the youngsters from the national wheelchair basketball centre, the young sportsmen and women, CREPS staff and coaches, as well as the curious, were able to discover the very high level of wheelchair basketball. ” Corentin Guizelin is delighted.
