A look back at Olympic and Paralympic Week

As every year, the CREPS Bordeaux took part in Olympic and Paralympic Week from April 3 to 8, 2023.

What is SOP?

With Olympic and Paralympic Week, the French Ministry of Education and Youth and Paris 2024 – Organizing Committee for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, dedicate one week a year to promoting sport among young people and mobilizing the educational community around civic and sporting values.

It’s a key moment to awaken students to the benefits of sporting activities. For this 7th edition, the theme chosen was inclusion. Every year, thousands of students discover the joys of sport andOlympism thanks to this week.

What happened at CREPS Bordeaux?

With Paris 2024 less than 500 days away, the Comité Régional Olympique et Sportif Nouvelle-Aquitaine CROSNAQ and the CREPS de Bordeaux wanted to put together a joint program and welcomed more than a hundred schoolchildren from all over the department.

On the program: conferences, exchanges, sports practice and initiation.

On Monday, students had the opportunity to talk to two disabled sportsmen and women: Titouan Grippon-LaMotte, wheelchair basketball athlete, and Nathan Maillet, disabled swimming champion . This was an opportunity to change attitudes about disability and sports for people with disabilities.

Throughout the week, the children were able to talk about Olympism with great champions such as Grégory MALLETOlympic medallist in swimming, and Karima MEDJEDEDpara-judo champion.

Activities introduced our young athletes to American soccer, wheelchair basketball, badminton, judo, capoeira, rollerblading and more.
