Men’s Sabre Pôle France

December was a busy month for our pôlistes, with three international trips.

In the U20 category, Paul Rouviere finished 6th in Dormagen against a very strong field (230 sabreurs from all over the world), with a remarkable victory over American Choi, world number 8. Paul Rouviere and Lucas Guilley had already distinguished themselves in Hammamet at the beginning of December in an equally challenging context, taking 15th and 11th place respectively in the individual event. In the team event, they were joined by Tom Couderc and Baptiste Baylac, two other members of the Bordeaux sabre PFR, and the 4 friends reached the semi-finals each time, losing out to the Americans, world number 1, in Hammamet and then Dormagen.

In the U17 category, Ulysse Le Gac Briand took 13th place (1st French) on the world circuit in Eislingen on 8/12, in a competition dominated by the Italians and Americans, and where 260 sabreurs crossed swords. The results are encouraging, and the PFR sabreurs are back in the swing of things after Christmas, aiming for podium finishes in early 2025.
